Correct waste management is essential not only to comply with current regulations, but also to protect the environment and ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Workshops and body shops produce a variety of waste, including used oils, batteries, tyres, plastic and metal materials. If handled inappropriately, these materials can cause serious harm to the environment and human health.
Below are simple guidelines that we recommend you follow for waste management in the workshop
1. Waste classification: It is essential to distinguish between hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Used oil, batteries and oil filters must be treated as hazardous waste and disposed of in accordance with current regulations.
2. Dedicated containers: Each type of waste must be collected in specific and clearly labeled containers. For example, containers for waste oil must be distinguished from those for plastic materials.
3. Safe storage: Waste should be stored in designated areas, away from heat sources and protected from the elements to avoid spills and contamination.
4. Authorized disposal: It is mandatory to collaborate only with authorized disposal companies and certify the correct disposal of waste through adequate documentation.
5. Staff training: Ensure that all staff are adequately trained on separate collection and waste management procedures. Organize periodic refresher sessions to maintain high attention and awareness. Staff training is the responsibility of the employer
